Default RE: Front sprocket

When you say you have no clue, how clueless are you? I've done the research here and can pass some along, but I hope I'm not talking below your level of experience. The swap from 16t to a 15t physically is easy. You free up the back wheel and adjust the chain all the way in to give space to work. Remove the plastic cover on the front, loosen the bolts and swap them out. Tighten the back wheel up leaving about an inch of play in the chain and your finished. I've read some guys do it often enough... it only takes them 20 minutes to back on the road after clean up. The up side, hard to keep the front down, great take offs and so on. The down side, are speedos work off the transmission.. so your speed will be way off, as in a lot higher than what you are actually doing. If I remember right, one rider said at a strip, he crossed the line and read around 137 and his speed on his ticket was 117. The 600RR has 16/43t 525 chain stock. So you need a 525 15t front if that's all you are changing. 520 chain conversion is another upgrade for choice. The 520 setup is less weight, and unsprung weight is something we shave off for better performance. You can shave some unsprung weight by doing a 520 conversion and by upgrade to rims with less weight. I'm not sure if it worth a couple grand to shave a pound or two on rims... but I was just explaining the "how-to's". The cheapest thing is to just stay with the 525 and buy 15T front.. that'll cost you around $40 shipped.
