Default Front Brake Problems

Hey All,

I have been struggling with this problem for about 3 weeks now. I have had trouble bleeding my front brakes. When i bought my 94 Honda CBR 600 F2, it had a cracked brake line (front right hand side). the person who owned it before me said that the brakes worked well b4 the line cracked. I replaced the entire brake line system up front. I also put a used master brake cylinder on it because the one that came with the bike was not made for a sport bike. The person who had the used master cylinder before me said it came off a working bike. I have replaced all of the banjo bolts and the copper washers. I can get fluid down to the calipers, but i dont seem to be getting any pressure in the system. I get nice streams and no air bubbles. Just streams. I took the calipers off and pulled the pistons and replaced the seals and put the pistons back in and still no change. HELP!..lol. Any suggestions? My rear brakes are in good working order.. i have tried every possible way to bleed the brakes (using suggestions from this forum).. i am used to the hold brake/open bleeder, and close bleeder method. I also have replaced the bleeders with new bleeders.. Im thinking master cylinder and i should just buy a rebuild kit.. what do you guys think?

If you can pump fluid in by using the above method...The only other thing I would suggest is to attach a tube to the end of the bleeder and immerse the end in the fluid you drain (in a clear jar). That way you can watch for air bubbles and not suck air back in if you release the lever too soon.

Does the lever just bury all the way back with no resistance? I would say master my friend. Only way to really prove that would be to let the lines gravity bleed out and plug them and see if you can build pressure or not. If not rebuild the master, if so, calipers.

There is 0 (zero) resistance in the handle. before i took the calipers apart i did the gravity bleed, but now i am unsure as if i did that correctly.. what i did was put tubes on the bleeders and put the tubes in a jar with fluid already. Then i took and taped back the brake handle so it was held back. Then i opened the bleeders and let it set overnight. Did i do that correctly?

I even put teflon tape on my bleeder threads to see if i could prevent air bubbles from getting in thru the threads...

No, I wouldn't do it that way. You don't need to have the lever depressed to gravity bleed it. Fill the reservoir up leave the cap off and crack the bleeders some and let it drip.

try this: with the system fully primed, syphon out the fluid from the reservoir. leave the cap off and pump the brake. I'm thinking if there is no leak in the system, and no pressure being generated, the fluid has to be moving somewhere. if you see fluid pump up into the empty resevoir while you pump the brakes, you know it's the master piston/cylinder seal or check valve (i don't know how these system prevent backflow i'm guessing there is a valve somewhere...)
