foot peg ?
Ok, I have what could possibly be a dumb question. Does anyone know how to remove the rubber piece on the stock foot pegs? I was considering getting them chromed, and I dont know if this should be removed or not. I tried on a spare set and only seemed to damage it.
No, I definatley want to leave it on, but i dont know if the rubber can stay while it gets chromed. I totally agree, I like the stock pegs with the rubber, I just want chrome ones! Thanks!
Actually, most modern day bikes don't use rubber anymore. The spiked grips of the newer style foot pegs grab better, and are lighter, for what ever the few ounces is worth. since soles of shoes and boots is rubber, rubber on aluminum spikes grip extremely well.
Having said that, rubber foot pegs do a much better job of isolating vibrations. Its more of a comfort thing than a grip thing.
if you want the rubber gone, I'd suggest just buying a set of aftermarket pegs that do not have rubber on them. Your stock pegs, having used rubber, probably do not have enough spikes to give proper grip with the rubber gone.
If your planning on chroming the pegs, and then re-installing the rubber afterwards, I don't know of a way to remove the rubber without damaging them. I believe they are molded on, so they have to be cut or burned off.

or you could buy these.. They dont say chrome, but it looks like it.
Maybe an email to them and ask if they are plated.

I saw those, and was considering them. They dont have a picture of them on a bike, to me they look a little larger than sportbike pegs. Could be worth a shot for like 20$ though. Thanks!
