Default Which foot?

While cruising thru the city today I saw a lot of fellow riders. Wrist bout broke over from waving but that's cool. But something caught my attention we people came to a stop at lights: the foot they put down while stopped.

I always put my left foot down for a couple reasons. At lights I'm always in 1st gear so I don't need to cover the shifter to make an escape. My right foot is up on the pegs covering the rear brake so I can flash my brake light or in case I'm on a hill.

Once I noticed it, it became the elephant in the room Noticed that cruiser riders tend to put their right foot down and cover the shifter cause they were usually in neutral. 'busa riders had both down so they could drag their feet for half a block at take off. So which are you? And why?

I usually stop with both feet down unless the light is going to change soon. Then I just put my left down for the same reasons as you.

In the MSF Course I took we were taught to put left foot down, so that you can cover/flash the brake like you said. I tend to either do that or put both down if i tend to be in neutral.

Both feet if it's flat, left foot if it's on a hill.

Left foot. I always stay in first as well just in case I need to suddenly get the heck out of there. Lots of hills around here also so I usually go ahead and hold the rear brake.

Both feet mostly... left on hills and some other times. Always in gear.

usually use both feet unless its a very brief stop then ill just use the left foot. a lot of the time ill try to not put any feet down and see how long i can balance it while barely moving lol. also im guilty of taking it out of gear once there is a car or two behind me as some of the lights here go on for what seems like an eternity.

None, I can balance for hours, lol! Okay, so i really use both feet, if its a long light sometimes i slip it in to nuetral. I try to creep up on some lights so i don't have to stop at all. Usually when I do that and get to a point where I have to stop, as soon as i put my feet down, the light turns green!

Ok you two footers: why?

Is there a practical reason? Safety reason? Striking a pose while at lights?
