Thanks a good little link.

I put my bike on front & rear stands & access everything via the R side...ie., I only remove the R side fairing. I also use aluminum foil to catch oil coming out below the old oil filter upon removal. However, my aluminum foil is routed out to teh R side to be caught by the oil container. I use a grippie to grasp the old oil filter & twist it off. If its on there too tight, you can use an oil filter wrench. As directed in the link, after draining, replace w/ new filter, & fill w/ oil. I always put in less than I know it takes, to adjust the level after warm-up. Its always easier to add oil than remove it if you overfill.

I use factory Honda oil filters & 10w40 oil.

Dang homes you go all out with that filter change! Nice idea! I just let it run all over the freakin place, but always clean up good with some brake spray, I hate when people leave a big oily mess after changing oil!

Note- Don't spray brake cleaner on hot exhaust, it's pretty volatile!

Along those lines... loosen the oil filter first, THEN warm up the engine. Unless you like the feeling of hot header pipes against your skin.

It's just like a car. Take your time and make sure you don't loose the crushed washer for the oil drain plug. Clean up any oil that does get on the exhaust manifold and you should be good to go. You will get a oil light on for a split second when you start it up but that is normal. The best part of all. Since the tranny and engine stare the same kind of oil it will be night and day. Make sure you do use a oil that is safe on wet clutches.
