Default Factory Bike Assembly Process???

I wanted to know when the dealer says they have a bike in stock, but its in a crate and must be assembled what exactly are they assembling? For example, for a CBR1000rr must they assemble everything like install the exhaust, brakes and lines, wiring, handlebars, etc? How does the bike come in the crate? I ask b/c I'm looking to purchase a bike and the dealer says its in a crate and must be assembled. The thing that puzzles me is I want some aftermarket parts and their charging me for installation, but the bike isn't assembled anyway! I don't get it... Help..lol

I've watched them put together a few bikes, my Guzzi was one of them, from what I remember its basically just the front wheel & mirrors. Some bikes have the bars installed. Oh yeah, forgot, the really hard hard part, undoing one side of the box it came in & maybe tearing through all the plastic bags & bubble wrap, making sure that they find the handbook & stuff (they still managed to lose mine). It's the B.S. they tell you about "Preparing a new car" here at least, we pay extra for that privilege ("Dealer Delivery Fees") which can add $1500-$2000 on the price of a new car & around the same for a new bike.

In addition to pulling the bike out of the shipping container, they also assemble and add fluids to the bike (oil, fuel, coolant, and bat acid). It takes a couple hours to go through the bike and make sure everything is there/not damaged. Although it doesn't seem like much, compare it to how much the shop rate is and that is in the probably in the area of your setup cost.
