F4I head chatter
Well i have an 04 f4i that for all intensive purposes is stock. I have come to understand that the auto timing chain tentioner is notorious for going out, again, my bike is stock. Last summer she devepoled a chatter in the head on the right side (timing chain side). She is quiet at idle, and sounds perfect when spinning up and at high sustained revs as long as there is sufficient stress on the motor. It's when decelerating (down shifting) or higher revs (5000+) with no stress on the motor it sounds like the head is flying apart inside. The right side plug had oil on it but all cylinders are within pressure specs.(have not performed leak down test) The bike also haas a history of long wheelies and high speeds. What noise does a bad chain tentioner bring about? and are the right side cylinders/valve terain more suseptible to wear than the left due to oil circulatioon issues? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I really dont wanna pull the motor out if I don't have to.
