I would have just checked the fuel filter on the in the tank 1st,

then the external filter or just removed it for 20 mls , it's just a fuel starve problem, your making a lot of work for yourself, i'm afraid

Sounds like your getting too much fuel ie smoke, bogs, runs better cold (when it's supposed to run rich), etc,.

I'm thinkin fuel pressure reg ?

my fuel pump went out on my F4i at about 14,000 and it sounds like you have the symptoms i had...

 

is there anyway to test fuel pump or should i just buy a new one?.. thanks Joe

ME TOO!! lol.. take extream caution on ebay when you buy USED stuff... cause there are always ******** on there that sell you a part that doesnt even work! or bent , or scratched and so on... so ask a **** load of questions! and youl be ok... i just had the dealer do it becuse im sure you all know what its like living in an appartment...
