F2 wont fire, Any ideas?
Ok, I have an issue that is stumping me at the moment and could use some pointers as to where to look.
I have a 92 F2 with 17k on it that’s been running fine until... The other day I went out to take it for a ride and it would not turn over. I only attempted to start it a couple of times when I realized what was going on. You could hear the starter engage and attempt to turn but the engine appeared to be locked up. Upon further investigation it appears that one of the carb floats had hung up and the result was one (or more) of the cylinders being completely filled with gas causing the engine to be locked up. So much gas had gone thru the engine that the exhaust was completely full of gas as well.
What I’ve done so far…
-removed gas from the exhaust and let everything air out a few days
-cleaned carbs
-replaced plugs (since I was in there anyway)
-changed oil because it was full of gas as well
Now…she won’t start. Everything seems fine, it turns over good (like usual) and I have good spark but it won’t fire. I have even sprayed a touch of ether over the carbs to eliminate a fuel delivery issue and it still won’t fire even one little pop. I have noticed that when it is turning over there is a small amount of air coming out of the carbs instead of them sucking air in.
Did I do something wrong while cleaning the carbs? I have a mechanic who is trying to convince me that the valves are bent but I really hope there is a simpler less costly explanation first. I don’t have access to compression tester yet which I realize would help with diagnosing a valve issue.
Any help/ideas as to what is going on would be much appreciated.

Air coming out of the carbs would be an indication of a intake valve not closing properly. It seems unlikely that the starter would have enough torque to bend a valve when a cylinder was hydro-locked by the fuel. Now, the loss of lubrication due to all the gas in the oil could have led to a sticking valve and the piston hit it, but that's a stretch too. A cheap compression testor would answer those questions on valves.
