Default F2/F3 engine swap

Afternoon all,

Looking to swap out my F2 engine of a 91 CBR600 and put in a lowermilage F3 engine from a 95 CBR600. The engine its self seems to be a straight swap, nice and easy, the problems arrise when it comes to the wiring harness as i see it. Has any one done this swap and knows/remembers what if anything has to be done to the harness or anything else for that matter to get the F3 engine in and working?

Many thanks.
Anthony.

Im not sure if you have to change the wiring out or not, if they are both carb motors you should be able to swap them out easy. I would compare both motors and see if you have any plugs that don't match your electrical. you can prolly do a search here and see if someone has done this before which im sure its been done.

the throttle cable is easy, just follow it down and disconnect it, mark it with white out so you can set it back to original, and unhook your gas lines, etc. leave the carbs on the motor, and drop that bad boy.

Loosten the lower screws on the carb boots and lift the body complete with boots off the engine leaving the throttle cable attached still and either rest the carbs on a block of wood spanning the frame or secure them on top of your console with some clean rag below for protection.

I didnt swap for the 93 engine in the end - i found a much lower mileage 92 (same as the 91) engine for a good price and did a straight swap over the weekend (about 6 hours in total) not the fastest but then i have never done anything like this and wasnt working in a garage environment.

Have done 500+miles on the new engine and she is running sweet!
