Default exhaust question new rider

Have new 06 600rr. I want to change my exhaust, if I just purchase a slip on, will that do anything besides me being heard? Also what are the differences between them, they look the same, but they have different classes it seems. Does anyone have a good site to purchase parts from? Thanx

A slip on will net you little to nothing as far as performance. Maybe with a new MAP it might get you 3 RWHP TOPS!! It will sound different (louder) and there are a ton of options. Carbon fiber, aluminum, etc. I dont know what is available for a 600RR, but 2brothers seems popular for them. Erion might have something for you too.

For the most part...only those behind you (and the Police everywhere else) will hear you better. I believe only 3% or so of bike accidents are from the rear so it may be somewhat helpful... so if safety is your concern it is probably not that effective, try a yellow helmet, I believe they are most visible: a safer lane position when stopped at a light may help too.

Don't believe the Harley riders that say loud pipes save lives, those guys just want to avoid wearing helmets and compensate for other things. All I know is that when I am in my car and a loud bike goes by me, my head turns, where the head goes, so does the body and the steering wheel and therefore the car. To me I'd rather be seen before I am heard.

I'm safer and didn't even know it.

Oh, get Arata or Akrapovik. Check out the 600rr.net website for more info on your bike. Best of luck.

A Slip-on is good for looks and sound. For performance a power commander will be needed for extra tuning. Try indysuperbikes.com for tons of exhaust options. My M4 exhaust is great so far. They are inexpensive and are quality at the same time.
