Default exhaust

Hey, So my grandfather is an old school bike guy and used to work for Kawasaki and I was talking about putting an aftermarket slip on exhaust on my bike and he had said "then you would need to get the bike tuned afterwards, just keep the stock pipe it'll run better..." But I have never heard of anyone HAVING to do this, so I am wondering if I would actually need to get the bike tuned if I put on a slip on. Also to bike is a 2005 cbr600rr and the slip on would be a yoshimura rs-5, dont really know of the bike or not matters.

Although it would probably run better with a fuel management system and a dyno tune you don't HAVE to do it if just adding a slip-on. I ran mine for over a year with no problem, after having installed a slip-on at 4 miles on the ODO.

I recently bought some Bazzaz stuff and am in the process of installing it all and then I'll get it tuned. I'm just doing it to pass away the winter months and because I had a little extra cash to buy some bike goodies.

Adding just a slip on won't require any tuning, but to get any minimal gains off the slip on if any, or to keep the bike running at max HP you need to tune. But you won't notice a difference on what you do either way because the gain/loss is so tiny.
