Default Engine knock

Ok here is the story, I rode a wheelie for a little too long on my 02 954rr, now the engine knocks a little when revved up. Has anyone been successful with the replacement ofmain and rod bearings before, or should I go with used engine. Thank you for replys

replacing main bearings is totally doable, but rods are much MUCH harder to replace. I'd suggest first though, locate where the knock is coming from, determine what in that area there is that could be causing it, and repair accordingly. a careful and considered approach always gets the best results on these repairs.

Cool, thanks for the replys. The knock is in the bottom end, I will tear it apart and inspect the crank for any damage.

You've probably done a main bearing. It may be possible to just waterpaper the crank, but if it's scored, you'll need to have it machined, and fit oversize bearings to compensate. All doable, and a lot cheaper than a new crank !
Moral of the story : You already know the answer to that one ![X(]
