Default Disconnect wires/remove fuel tank for stator cover replacement?

This is on a 13 cbr1000. Manual says to disconnect 3p connector and crankshaft position sensor. This requires tank removal. I have read of guys just disconnecting the battery. Why wouldn't they just tell you that. Makes me wonder. I'm not an electronics Wiz but I assume if you disconnect the battery, nothing can be electrically charged. Is the reason they tell you to do all that so the wires aren't being pulled ?

Yup answered my own question last night after replacing cover. Not much slack if you dont disconnect, but not necessary
