Dipstick level/maintenance panel studs
New to the forum and CBRs so hope this is the right area and not confusing by posting two problems.
Firstly really stupid question but have changed oil and filter and only having sight glasses in the past, not 100% sure what is min and max on the dipstick. The dipstick has two flat areas at the bottom so I am assuming that half way between the two areas is min and if both flat areas are covered this is max. Could someone please set me straight.
Secondly, had to drill out a couple of studs that attach the maintenance panels to the fairing so need some replacement studs. These are different
to the ones (smaller) that attach the fairing panels and I am not sure what ones to get as they all look the same in the pictures but the flange head on the maintenance panel is smaller. Measured crudely with a ruler.
Head Flange = 12mm
Bolt Length = 16mm
Bolt Width = 5mm
Anyone know the right ones. Have emailed the supplier but no reply as yet.
Any help appreciated.
Oh bike is 1997 CBR 600 and I think FW.

Bolt supplier on Ebay assures me that the correct bolts are M5 x 16mm so as only a couple of quid I am going to order them.
Still would like any advice on the dipstick level though as don't want to put too much or too little oil in.

On the dipstick, the upper line is full, the lower line is the minimum, anything in between means you're in the range - on more modern automotive dipsticks, the section between the 2 lines would have cross hatching or engraving in that zone.
also - not everyone knows this, but the oil level should be checked with the bike sitting level, DON'T screw it back in when you check oil level - it is supposed to just be inserted in, and then pulled back out. Don't screw it back in until you're done with your oil level check.

Was in the bike shop today so asked about the dipstick, guy in there says bottom of stick is minimum and end of first flat bit is max.
Lucky I asked as this was not what I thought and now fits in with what Adrenal says about engraving. The part of the dipstick that falls between min and max has the word "malag" engraved in it (think this is what it says but can't check at the moment as bike stored away from house).
I am a bit of a mechanical cabbage admittedly but can't see the point of having the second flat area on the dipstick if it doesn't do anything, certainly had me confused

No worries. I doiblechecked the Honda Common motorcycle manual before I answered originally. You can download it and a service manual for your F3 @ www.stephygee.com
