Default dim lights...

I just put a fender eliminator on my 01 f4i that i got off ebay and the running lights are really bright but when i brake you cant even tell a difference and my rear blinkers are hard to see as well. Can this be fixed with just some new bulbs? If so what kind of bulbs will i need (bright ones!!...people tell me they can't see me breaking or see my turn signals at night and thats not safe at all)?

Sounds like you need a few resistors on the running light wires.

You most likely have the two wires that power the lights reversed. Inside the light bulb you have two elements. One is for the rinning lights and the other one is for the brake lights. The brake lights are brighter of course. If you know which wire is the ground you should simply switch the other two wires around. If you want to go further you can disconnect all three wires and use a multimeter. You would put the black lead on the ground wire and turn the key on. Whit the black lead connected to the ground wire put wither one of the other wires to the red lead. One of the wires will have voltage running through it and one will not. The wire that has the voltage in it with the key on is the wire for the tail running lights. The other wire will show power only when you depress the brake lever hence, that is the brake light wire. Once you know which wire is which you can connect the ground wire to the correct place on the bulb hookup and then touch the wire with the constant voltage to the other two spots. You will want to hook it up to the spot that makes the bulb come on dim. Then you take the wire that only has power on it when you pressed the brake lever and you hook it up to the other spot. When you are done your lights SHOULD function properly as far as the brake lights go.

Like I said before...you may need some resistors on the running light wires. If you're new undertail has led's instead of regular bulbs and you didn't use any resistors when installing it then you're going to have a problem. It's a common question on here.

What are resistors?? It doesnt have LED's it has regular bulbs....Thats why im wondering if getting new bulbs would fix the problem or if it is something to do with the wireing???

If you don't have led's then that isn't the problem. I would go back to what rjmech said. It is quite possible that you put the running light wire on the turn signal filament connection and vice versa. This would lead to your brighter turn signal filament being lit up all the time and when you hit the blinker the dimmer running light filament will flash. This would cause you to barely be able to notice your turn signals. Don't feel bad though...the idiot I bought my bike off had done the same thing with the front signals so I had to go back and rewire it. To fix the problem just disconnect the 2 wires other than the ground, and switch them around.
