Default dent in gas tank...

Can I pop this dent out??? Or do I have to get a whole new piece??

i poped out some pretty crazy dents on my f2 tank. still not perfect. but it would be worth a try before you spend you bucks on a new one. if you pin weld it, be very gentle..

That dent can mostly be removed because it's not in a body line/ crease. As another suggested, pin welding, or Heli-arc welding the dent remover rivets will force you to repair the paint. However, here's a couple tricks you can try.

1. Remove gas cap.
2. Wrap small amount of duct tape on end of angled pry bar or crow bar.
3. Place a protective device, small block of wood, etc... around the front side of the gas cap.
4. Insert crow bar into tank, apply pressure to dented area, slowly tap counter pressure against damaged area. Use a plastic mallet.
5. Repeat above steps.

I noticed a tank pad on there. Once you get them out to where you think is acceptable, if you don't want to repaint, just move your tank pad up and it will hide it a little more.

oh and I got the dent because my room mate backed up into my bike and knocked it into our garage [sm=headbang.gif]

ya if you can get the angle to work thats gonna be the easiest. my F2 tank is damn near impossible to pull out like that.. good luck..
