Default delayed throttle response

Hi, I have the 600 f2 and when i am in the higher gears and i throttle , there is a delay?? I have just replaced my engine, it was a complete unit from the head down, just a matter of attatching the carbs. Starts and runs fine at low speeds but as soon as you crank it up there is that delay before it pulls away, never had this problem with the old engine. Could i have disturbed somthing on the carbs when i was putting it back together? do i need to get the carbs balanced? Any help . Thanks guys.

You definetely need the carbs synced.

sounds like your clutch is slipping at higher throttle positions. is the motor spooling up smoothly, but the bike just is having trouble pulling?

Shouldn't thing the carbs need balancing because at higher revs you are on the main jets. Carb balancing is for lower down the rev range i.e. idle speed and 1/8 throttle position. If the clutch was slipping the the revs would rise dramatically but you wouldn't be going any faster. I'd suspect the ignition unit to the plugs, probably the advance (electronic, so not adjustable) range. If plugs not firing out of the engine they will be worse when screwed back into the head. You can buy a spark plug tester from Halfords that goes in between a spark plug lead and the plug. It allows you to see if any particular plug lead is getting a constant spark through the see-through glass filament. Try each lead one at a time and see if they are all getting a constant spark through the rev range.
