Dead Hornet... any ideas?
I know it's not a CBR, but a close relative. My friend just picked up a 2004 CB 600F Hornet. I don't know much about the motor, except that it's a 599cc inline four with carbs. Anyway, he called me today to tell me that it wouldn't start. He said it wasn't turning over or anything. I went to his house thinking that since he is a novice rider (i.e. this is his first street bike) he was forgetting something simple.
I put the bike in N, made sure the ignition and run switches were on, and hit the start button. The headlight went out, which it should, but that's it. The starter didn't even try to turn. No signs of life at all. He said it ran fine the day before, but now it's dead. I checked the battery and it was fine. Fuses were good too.
I told him to go buy a service manual and that I would bring some more tools over and a multimeter and we would try to troubleshoot the prob on Friday. I'm thinking it's an electrical problem... sidestand switch, starter motor... any other ideas of what would be wrong? How much newer electrical stuff would be on his bike than on my F2 that I should look at?
