Default F18 Hornet

Was up near the local RAAF base today for work and happened to time it will enough to watch 3 x F18 Hornets come in to land. Williamtown RAAF base is one of several FA18 Hornet bases here in Australia. They really are awesome pieces of machinery. I got the phone out quickly and grabbed some footage.

I live near McChord AFB up here in Lakewood, Washington. See F-15's on a daily basis. Always impressive. Watching them never grows old.

The Canadians also fly CF-18's as their front line fighter. Here it's mostly a carrier based plane, though the USAF use the F/A-18 as a fighter/attack bomber

In recent times we've had the F111, the Mirage and now the FA18. We don't have carriers any longer over here. I'd say if we need a lift then Barack will give the order.....lol.

Not a nitpicker by any means, but I believe here in the USA, only the Navy and Marines fly the F/A-18?

F-111 was a classy looking airplane... Did the F/A-18 replace the F-111 or are there still some in service?
