Crank no start
Im trying to diagnose a problem with my 89CBR 600. here is what I know. The problem is an electric problem regarding the fuel pump when I jump the 3 prong fuel pump relay the fuel pump kicks on. I replaced the relay caus upon inspection with a multi meter I noticed there was no resistance between any combination of prongs on the relay. Im not shure if this is normal as im not used to seeing a 3 prong relay only 4 or more. I also do not trust my multi meter as it is very old but it does zero in correctly. 70 dollars later this did not get my bike running so I'm assuming its a problem with the yellow wire to the relay that activates the connection with the other two wires. I'm stuck now any advice would be great the electrical diagram got confusing following this wire so any advise on how to check it would be great.
Do you have power to the relay? If so, how much?
Have you checked to make sure your fuse isnt blown?
Also, when you check your fuse, pull it out and look to make sure the connectors did come loose from the fuse block housing. there are little tabs that hold the wires in the back of the fuse block that can sometimes break. when that happens, your fuse will still seam as though it connects, but the wire isnt making contact.
I think you may have other issues than just that though. Your bike should still start even without a fuel pump. the fuel pump on those models acts as a booster, your carbs will still fill up with gas even if the fuel pump fails. As long as there is gas in the carbs, it should start. I would suspect a faulty kickstand switch, ignition switch or kill switch. Putting the bike in nuetral should eliminate the kickstand switch as a possibilty.
Has anything changed recently on the bike? accidents or customizing?

How bout the BAS. (Bank angle sensor) sometimes referred to as a tip sensor. Not sure where it is on your bike, on mine ('01 F4i) its mounted to the headlight in the center on the backside. Anyways you can bypass it by "jumping" the two outter wires together, theres write ups on how to do it. Good Luck.
