CBR600 FY. Removed these (with difficulty) and need new ones. Any suggestions where to buy. Seem to be 8mm by 30mm.

I'm very much a novice..

It's a stud with a nut.

A stud with a nut is better than a bolt. If you can put the stud in a vise, hold by the center part without threads, you may be able to get the nut off. Then you can screw the stud back in and just replace the nut. If not, replace the stud too.

If the studs are OK you can reinstall them using the double nut method. The first video shows how to remove a stud using this but it is the same for installing them. Just tighten using the top nut instead of the bottom.

You can get replacement studs and nuts specific for your model at somewhere like Honda East Toledo.

Question is already answered but in case you are pondering why studs instead of bolts, you pretty certainly shear the threads from the block with just bolts, when using studs the load is carried through them that and not the threads in the block. You should get them from any bolt/tool shop, IMO no need to be OEM as they are the same only more expensive.

I wouldn't reuse those old studs, asking for trouble.

What I now do is cut the heads off of long M8 st/st bolts, copper grease them to infinity and bolt the headers on using M8 brass nuts and st/st washers.

In the highly unlikely event that the st/st seizes in the head (copper grease prevents any galvanic corrosion), the brass nuts strip before the studs snap.

Here are the studs etc on my CBR, had to take downpipes off recently after a year or so and about 10k and they came out like they were fitted the day before. Even the grease was still "greasy", I had assumed it would be burned off by now leaving copper powder. Here I used a quarter (filed down half nuts) nut to blank off the stud hole to salt spray, this bit is unnecessary but I use the bike to commute on salted UK winter roads and had some time to kill.
