Default F3 cylinder head

I have a 96 cbr600 with a scored head and it would b cheaper to buy a used one than get it resurfaced. The one I found for dirt cheap is from a 1995. Are they exactly the same?

having a head resurfaced shouldn't cost that much. you would want to have the used one resurfaced and valves checked anyway. keep the head that know will fit and do it up right by having a machine shop grind the valves, resurface it, and pressure check the head for cracks. you will be glad you did in the long run.

Unless the head you are buying is never used, brand new, then you will have to do the head job anyway; there is sometimes problems with other heads that are not visible. Keep yours, have the whole job done for less than $200, and you dont have to worry about where it came from, or wether it will fit.

Look online, and call all of them for different prices, and go there and check what the shop looks like. Ive had head work done, that was less than satisfactory. I use Waynes Engine Rebuilders in Riverside CA.

start by asking a professional shop who they use, like the one that fixes your car. ask motorcycle shops, even harley ones. then make a few calls and go with the one that that you feel good about.
