Default Cooling System Leaking

Hello to all, introducing myself for the first time with a question/dilema. 03 CBR RR. Coolant leaking from front of engine block. Appears to be coming from the cylinder sticking out of the front of block next to the oil filter. Is this the water pump cover? There are 2 cylinders protruding from the front of the block behind the headers, 1 is the oil filter and the other? This is where the coolant appears to be leaking from when I re-fill the radiator with water to identify the leak. Water starts draining out immediately from this area when I fill the radiator. Any suggestions other than something is broke. Bike runs fine other than the cooling system not holding. Thanks for any input.

no, that's the oil cooler. it uses the engine coolant to cool the oil. it's a very expensive part to replace.

Well aint' that a kick in the nuts. Bike is used and has been laid over. I'll start pricing a new one. Any idea on how involved replacing one would be. I'm assuming it just bolts on. Remove header and loose all the oil. Thanks for the info.

here's the skivvy:

Drain the oil
Drain the coolant
Remove the exhaust pipe
Loosen hose clamp screws and disconnect the oil cooler water hoses from the oil cooler.
Remove the for bolts, washers and oil cooler

done. you may just need to replace the o-ring inside, which is much, much cheaper. remove it, inspect it and replace ONLY if absolutely necessary. you first have to find out what's wrong. after that THEN you can start replacing stuff, savvy?
