Default cooling system

Does anyone know the standard running temp. of a 1999 CBR900RR ??
New bike to me and it was very low on coolant when I purchased it. Did the oil and brake fluid change tonight and filled the coolant?? just wanted to make sure everything is working. It seem to get to 218 and then the fan kicks on. Is this typical?? any help would be great.. thanks to all

That sounds about right, I've noticed these bikes should be running at around 225˚F ~ 230˚F when they're not moving. My fan kicks on at 223˚F ('03 F4i). You might as well flush your coolant while you're at it. All I did was remove the hose from the water pump (lower left side). The Prestone Extended Life is OK to use & only $13. BTW, up on top are downloadable service manuals.

Wink

Yep, make sure if you do use car stuff, that it doesn't contain silicate and is safe for aluminum.

That seems about right. My 03 600rr heats up till about 223 before the fan comes on. I usualy dont ride it untill the fan comes on let it warm up to a decent temp. Good luck with it
