With coil packs mounted directly on the spark plus, there are no traditional plug wires. As far as I know, my old school timing light only works on plug wires and would not work on the little DC wires supplying the coil packs. How does one check the timing on a bike with coil packs?

 

You don't, its set by the computer. Just line all the hard parts up correctly when assembling.
