Default Clutchless Upshifting

I have a 2006 600RR and would like to know if clutchless upshifting will hurt my baby.
I have not tried it yet but to me it seems like it would be hard on her and may lead to tranny problems.
I've read that, if done correctly, its actually better for your bike to use clutchless upshifting. Why is that?

I dont know if its better for your bike, maybe less wear on the clutch?, but it wont hurt it, as long as you do it properly.

I do both. I would say about 80 percent of the time, I dont use the clutch, but when Im in town, or with a passenger, I tend to use the clutch. I also tend to ride with one hand while Im taking it easy, my other hand to my side or resting across the tank. so the clutchless shift works well for me.

Next time your taking off. Get your rpms up a bit as your taking off at a good pace, roll off the gas just a little, but maintain the gas, at the same moment, shift the bike. You need to be quick and do it as your rolling off the gas. Remember, just a little, dont let off the gas too much or it wont shift. be firm with your shifts as well.

when i twisted my wrist, i still had to ride my bike but was unable to suppress the clutch lever. So i had to rely on clutchless shifting for a few days.

if you do it right, it should almost shift into the next gear automatically. what im saying is you shouldnt have to force it into the next gear, but a little tap with your foot and it should move onto the next one.

You can shift either way without the clutch, I dont like doing it from 1-2 or 2-1 it's a little twitchy on those. You can shift a car without a clutch too, just about getting the rpm's right. A little practice you'll get it smooth, do the same shifting motions just dont use the clutch. Lots of coordination! I havnt broken anything yet, but if your too rough with it i'm sure you could come up with some problems. Be easy its a smooth shift if you doing it right

I do it every once in a while, just to keep the skill and muscle memory fresh... mostly just use it when I'm going easy, one handed, so i dont have to reach back to the handle bar...

The way I do it is to LIGHTLY pre-load the shift lever (like 5 lbs of pressure up) with my toes, and just slightly crack back on the throttle, and it clicks right up. 1 -> 2 can be kind of rough though.... So i almost always use the clutch for that first shift just so it doesn't go all jerky on me..

Its a good skill to have, especially if your clutch cable decides to take a crap on you one day.... You can also downshift like this (but i wouldnt recommend it unless its necessary i.e. cable breaks...) I think you should try it / practice it atleast so you know how to do it, even if you dont use it on a regular basis. Just remember, be GENTLE, it doesnt take much to snick it up ... just a toe or two.

I read a tutorial where you hook the horn button to the sidestand switch so that you push the horn button and it cuts off the engine then you shift and let off the button. Like a quickshifter.

Not sure where i read it. i thought it was on a RR but im not sure

I do it too. For me, if I go riding for a long day, by the end, i seem to pull a tendon in my clutch hand and I am forced to clutchless shift on my way home.........its really f-in annoying, but i have not noticed any damage in doing so either.
