--clutchless shifting--
Ok, you probably heard this question before, it could be dumb, but the other day I got confused, somebody told me that the manual of my 91 F2 (which I don’t have) tells you to shift with the clutch, I understood that you could shift without using the clutch on this sports bikes. I can tell you, I do cleaner upshifts without the clutch, and faster too.
Is it true and ok to shift without using the clutch?? Even on an old bike like my 91 F2?
Why or why not?? Thanks!
Oh and what does the manual say, does anybody know??

Granted you can get away without using the clutch but to save your tranny I would use the clutch. I know it seems easier and I do it at times when I'm really ripping on my bike but just normal riding I always use it. They do make quick shift kits which mount onto your shift rod and will basically kill the gas to the engine when you start to shift so it puts less stress on the gears inside of the tranny. However I'm not sure if they make kits for the f2 or not.
If you are shifting without the clutch under a load (i.e. throttle on), then it will put extra stress on the gearbox. If you are doing clutchles shifts when its not under load, it won't hurt anything. Like DThompson said, rolling off the throttle is enough to make a clean shift and is not hard on the gearbox.
If you are shifting at high rpms, you may want to consider a quick shifter. All they do is kill the ignition momentarily so the system unloads and allows for a clean shift. Powercommander makes one as well as many others. Honda makes really robust transmissions so I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you are doing full throttle clutchless shifts all the time...

You get away with it because your plates are bathed in oil. This comes in handy, like when my clutch cable broke, and managed to get me a bit closer to home (bugger at the lights though lol
)
Even so I would not recommend more than the odd shift here and there.

i do both all the time. but you better hope that one day it doesnt do something weird..cause tranny is much more expensive than clucth. when i have a passenger i always use clutch..i feel i have mastered the smoothness of it.
