Default Clutch problem

I just replaced the clutch know my 96 cbr900rr with a 95 engine in. Replaced the metal plates and friction plates and springer. Started up the bike held in the clutch put it in first started letting the clutch out but wouldn't grab. Just don't know if I missing something. The old friction plates I took out of the bike had 10 but the barret clutch I purchased had 9. I was told they should work

you're going to need that 10th plate. the springs wont decompress enough to let the plates engage each other. do all of the friction plates have the same inner diameter? there should be 1 that has a slightly larger ID, thats the inner most plate.
