I have a cbr 954 and yesterday my clutch exploded while the bike was running. My guess is one of the clutch plates broke, flew out and, broke bother sides if the clutch basket. Fishing parts out of the oil pan. Ordered my parts and there on their way. It was almost a grand in parts.
Has anyone seen this and is there any way to help prevent it in the future? The clutch was not warn out, and luckly didn't do any other damage to the engine. Thanks for you help

 

Did you talk to the dealer ? There was a recall on some of the 929's involving the clutch basket. I don't know if it involved the 954's or not, but worth looking into. Here is a link to a thread where someone had it replaced a couple months ago.
