Default clutch break-in?

some background: I did a clutch job on my 929 in the off season. I soaked the plates overnight, installed according to manual (as close as possible). I used EBC cork fiberplates.

today I head out on the road and taking off from a stop the bike shudders as the clutch engages. I can't think of a good comparison, but it sure feels like the fibers are grabby. once i'm moving, I don't notice anything, shifts are smooth and there is no slippage at all... did i miss a break in step or what? What could i have screwed up on install?

It could be the clutch material. I hear that kevlar is very grabby, there is no slip at all.
