Default clicking in gear only

i have a 90 cbr f1 i get a clicking noise when it is in gear and moving from the transmission any ideas what i should check?

Inspect your front sprocket for wear. Also, throw it up on a stand, and turn the rear wheel by hand, inspecting the chain for stiff links.

Does it do it in any gear? Do what John said and if that is not the problem you may have gear problems. If it only does it in a certain gear you will have to replace that gear.

not sure if its every gear since i just bought the bike for $300 for a winter project. i have been scared of the trannny locking up on me. once i get done moving and get the carbs back on ill put it on a stand and go through the gears. in the mean time ill look the chain over was going to clean and lube it tonight anyway.

In addition, while looking at the chain for stiff links, make sure the chain isnt adjusted too tight. It puts a bind on the output shaft bearing and can cause odd noises.
