Choke won't work ???????????
I just got this 94 cbr and I can't get the choke to work I leave it on when warming up and when i try to turn it off it dies immediatly. I have to ride with it on but i no that will mess it up any advice.
Have you adjusted the Idle screw?
all the choke does is restrict the airflow when starting to make the bike suck more fuel than air and run rich until the fuel draw is good. The bike should idle up into the 3-4K range when it is on full choke. The you should back your choke off like you say you are and the bike should come down to normal idle of ~1500ish or whatever you like.
Sounds like your idle screw is turned out too far for proper idle setting.
Crank the bike w/ the choke on, and reduce the choke - this should cause it to drop RPM's - back the choke off til you know it won't run any lower. turn your idle adjustment **** clockwise until the idle picks back up, or it won't go anymore.
If the rpms come back up, then back the choke off some more and see if the motor keeps running. Keep backing off til your choke is off,a nd the bike is idling on its own. If your RPMs are higher than ~1500, back the idle **** out counter-clockwise until they slow down to where you want them to be.
If you turn the idle **** fully clockwise and the motor never picks up RPM, and you can't back the choke off at that point - there's some other issue that needs to be investigated.
