choke problems
in the morning i go to start my bike and pull the chokeup so it can warm up and the bike doest rev up passed 1800-2000 then it will go to 2500-3000 like normal but only sometimes any help would be sweet
mine does the same thing kinda. when i use the choke, it revs to about 1500-1800RPM's, then seems to bog a bit and drops to 1000RPM's or lower. that's when i push the choke back in, and rev it with the throttle to about 2000RPM's for about a minute or so. just long enough for it to not cut off if i let off the throttle (usually stays at about 9000-1000RPM). once the bike's warmed up, the idle is set to about 1300RPM's like normal. i think the choke's supposed to be used for what, 30 seconds? then the bike should be idling somewhat fine? with my last bike, and once with this one, i've had problems fouling out plugs. so when it starts to bog, i kill the choke to be safe (which leaves me there holding the throttle for a minute or so). i've owned the bike for a month or so but don't know what all (if anything really) has been done to it. it has a vance & hines pipe (maybe the full system, how can i tell?), stock airbox and filter, and i haven't removed the carbs to check the jet sizes.
Takrib, same starting progam for my 94 100 f. Choke off soon as possible is fine, i think. No loading up, cycl. washing. Ya, thats a nice one !!!!!!! Clean and free, only smoke'n harleys !!!!!!!!!! Ripp'n
thanks for the compliments. i'm actually wanting to have it painted (slight road rash on the right side) but everyone tells me they like the purple and highlighter yellow. not my cup of tea though lol. the headers look to be made out of the same SS as the rest of the pipe, so it may be the full system? i think stock headers should be a smaller diameter than what i see on there. i think if i just cleaned them up they'd shine pretty good. as for the choke, i just want to be able to start her with it, have her RPM's raise to about 2K for a bit to warm her up, remove the choke and have it idle without intervention of the throttle manually.
