Default choke cable repair

Hello
the choke cable broke on my CBR 600F, and I need to repair it. I do not really have the technical knowledge to take all the carburators apart and all that jazz, so I wanted to just cut the cable short, below the break, and mount it somewhere else on the frame of the bike and just sort of make a new choke with a shorter cable. Has anyone ever tried something like this, and if so, do you have any advice on how to mount the cable or what to use as a new lever to open and close?

thanks

Andrew

Did the cable break or the plastic keeper that holds the barrel-end on to the carb? My plastic keeper broke years ago, and I use a cable tie to hold the barrel-end in. If the cable actually broke, you should be able to put on a new one without removing the carbs.

Get a new cable, it only takes 10 ~ 20 mins to fit

the f1 is easy, you dont need to take carbs apart. get a new cable, take off gas tank, air box and filter, you will see the choke cable...it is on the front side of the carbs right in the middle. the choke goes on #2 in the carb picture, the side facing up will face forward on the bike.

Here is the cable:

yeah it shouldn't be hard. i took it off an f2 within a few minutes. you don't have to pull off the carbs either. should be the same according to that pic.
