Default Chain Recomendations

Hey guys,

It's about that time for tires and a chain/sprocket set for me. I'm all set with tires... I've got my Pilot Power tourings on order!

As for chains/sprockets however, I'm less familiar with brands. So my question is this: I'm looking currently at an RK kit... is that a good brand? What would you guys recomend? I'm not trying to skimp on quality... chains/tires are two places I would pay a little extra for peace of mind. Any opinions/insight are greatly appreciated! Thanks fellas! (and ladies too! )

RK is good stuff. Top shelf is DiD, think mine is a RK or EK and it doing great. I'd just stay away names that no one has heard of and stick to known brands and you'll be fine.

I've had best results w/ DID. I'm currently running an RK but experiencing more wear at less mileage w/ it than the DID...all other things being equal.

+1 stick with name brands. Get the 525 kit NOT the 520. Those numbers indicate chain size/pitch. The 525 chain is wider and stronger than the 520, don't buy into the whole less recipricating mass bs, you'll never notice a difference unless you're tryin to shave a tenth of a second off your lap time. Besides most weight is saved by swaping from a steel rear sprocket to an aluminum one, if you compare the weight between the two chains it'll only be a few ounces different.

I'm running an RK gold and I like it. I feel much better with the RK than the cheapo one the PO had on it. I snapped the original chain on a redline shift to second, and that was a scary feeling.
