Get a girlfriend with long legs, a squirt bottle with mineral spirits, a three headed brush, and you are golden.
Have the long legged girl walk the bike slowly, you hose down the chain and scrub lightly until it is clean or you run out of mineral spirits.
Spray with chain wax.
edit: I cleaned my kitchen using their method, I have sub-contractors coming in to help with the re-assembly next week.
