Just bought a pre-owned 2026 cbr600rr with 650 miles, dealer told me it had been serviced so I put about 400 miles on it before I noticed that the chain needed to be tightened, I tightened it and noticed it’s past the red line where it’s supposed to be replaced. Is it possible my sticker is in the wrong location or the chain is just already beat? OR am I just looking at it wrong, I thought the center of the axel was my reference point for the replace/ok/new sticker, is it actually when the side of the axel goes past the red I am supposed to replace? ALSO if I am reading it wrong is my bike dangerous to ride (chain might fly off into my leg or someone else’s vehicle?)
Welcome to the forum, in this case it looks like it is the metal bar next to the lock nut that is the reference point.
There should be a mark of some sort to indicate this. Have you checked the manual for the correct method to adjust the chain? Or lacking this a quick call to the dealer would be an easy solution.
As long as the chain has the correct amount of free play then it should be absolutely fine to ride.
