I'm repairing grandsons 2002 cbr954 that went down a couple years ago. Have repaired most issues now moving to start it up. It was necessary to replace ignition. The dash is hooked up but no headlights/turnsignals. The problem is no power in/out of switch. Have checked kickstand/neutral switch they're fine.All fuses good and new relay. Here in lies the question. The switch wiring shows red/yellow to the starter solenoid and if I power that lead it cranks. The other lead is red and blue which goes to the headlight relay which cuts off headlight when cranking the engine. Since the headlights are not there (just sockets) is this preventing the starter switch from getting power?!. Getting ready to run jumper from from power to red/bue wire. Does this make sense-I actually don't see a relay on the front of the bike( as wiring diagram seems to indicate they all seem to be in the rear-Can hear the high beam relay in the rear.

 

Iknow for a fact that the f4i wont start without headlights plugged in so I think definitely possible thats the cause if the wiring diagram says so.

 

Where did you get the ignition switch from? Does it have the resistor built in?

 

Got online,does have resister and appears to be perfect match

 

Turns out it will crank without headlights-replaced starter button now will crank.
