Rebuilding the frontbrake took longer than I anticipated. But for good reasons: I started in a new, amazing job. It's a physically pretty tough job, so I was often to tired to work on my bike. In the end I decided to let the mechanic do the work. There were some planning issues, but last week the last things were finally done.

Took her for a ride almost every day. Yesterday on my way home she left me standing. Again.
I was on the highway when I felt the engine started to run slightly irregularly. Soon after that it started to loose power, the rpm would go down and next thing she wouldn't respond to the throttle. I quickly moved to the 'vluchtstrook' (I don't know how it's called in English, emergency lane?). The engine kept running, but when I pulled the clutch (because I wanted to let her run out as far as I could to get to a save place) the engine died.

While I waited at the gas station for the ANWB (the main road emergency service in The Netherlands) to arrive, I started to test a few things to see if I could find out what's wrong.
When the ANWB arrived, he handed me his tools instead of doing the work himself.
We checked the fuelpump first (by feeling). It's running. Then we checked the ignition. We pulled out a sparkplug cable, put a screwdriver in it and started the engine to see if it sparks. It this, but quite weak. Then we pulled the screwdriver a bit back and started again, and a second time until it sparked strong again. After that I attempted to start the engine and with one push of the button she would run.

So something is interfering with the ignition, causing it to spark weak. Maybe the CDU (or is it called CDI?) or the ignition coils?

I wonder if moist (water) could be the problem. The first few days this week she worked perfectly fine. But Friday night it rained and I had her standing outside. Saturday I had trouble starting the engine, and solved that by placing her in the sun and spray a few things with contactspray.

What do you guys think?

Check for cracks in your coils and plug leads - they should be protected from the rain though. CDI doesn't affect the strength of the spark, only battery voltage and the coils themselves.

Checked the coils and plug leads (those are the cables that go from the coils to the spark plugs, I think?). All plug leads look fine, except one. It has a damaged spot so I replaced it.

I also measured the resistance of the coils and plug leads, but I find it inconclusive. It's a bit above the accepted lever, but I the multimeter I uses is not a professional one, it's not calibrated. So to be sure I'll a mechanic check it for me.
Also, I'm not happy with how the plug leads fit on the sparkplugs. It feels a bit loose. So I ask the mechanics opinion on that too.
I
I did check today what new coils and plug leads would cost, that's almost €600,-. That's quite a lot of money.

In the meantime I've found a place to park the bike where she is sheltered from te rain. That gives me time to build a roofed parking spot myself.

Rather than replace the coils, you should rewire for Coil-on-plug - much more reliable.
