Hello,

Is there anyone that has or does own a CBR1000 1992? i am sure it is the camchain, very loud knocking at the front when engine is cold, how hard is it to fix, pull apart? i have the manual and pretty mechanically minded, but affraid of either loosing parts or not getting it back together.

Also is it normal to use a full tank of fuel in 200km? i get roughly 200km out of a full tank, ULP or PULP, no difference. i havent checked the air filter yet nor anythin else.

Can anybody help?

IS THIS A CBR 1000F
AND HOW MANY MILES IS ON IT

IF IT IS A 1000F THEY ALL MAKE A TAPPING SOUND
WHEN THERE COLD DOES IT GO AWAY AFTER IT WARM?????????

I HAVE A 87 1000F AND JUST REDONE THE MOTOR AND MINE DOES
THE SAME THING WITH THE TAPPING

 

Have the same model. Had to change the Cam Chain tensioner at 80Klms. Does seem to be a common prob with the CBRs but normally it disappears once warmed up.

I have a 94, and I have the same noise at cold start. Don't be so worried unless the noise is still there after it is at running temperature. (IE - 10-15 miles down the road at idle) If the noise is still present, then be concerned!!!
