Default CBR won't start - not getting gas

Please. Help. I've changed the plugs and the battery, yet my bike won't start. I took it to the dealer and at the moment he's at a loss. But he did diagnosis that the bike wasn't getting any gas. Any thoughts where I can start to look so I no longer am getting gouged by the dealer's outrageous labor rates? The bike has gas, new plugs and a new battery, it does turn over while I crank the engine to life, but it just never bites.

If you can tell us what bike it is year and model, it will help determine why its not getting gas...

Sure. It is a 2004 CBR 600rr. And the fuel pump whirs when I crank it, so that's working properly.

just cause the fuel pump whirs doesnt necessarily mean that is gettin gas you could always lift up the tank pull off the fuel line and try pumpin some gas into a cup or something to see if its actuall working, check the fuel filter too see if thats clogged up at all, also is it primeing when you turn on the run/stop switch i had that switch go bad on me so it was crankin over but wouldnt start.

I will check the fuel line next, see if the fuel is funneling through. If it is, any other suggestions? And I already checked the switch in the throttle. I had to replace it last year when one of the little wires broke off, so I'm familiar with the issues that come from the cables inside the housing.

My first guess would be to check the Fuel Pressure Regulator. If your getting gas through the fuel pump. It can be checked by pulling the vaccum line off the FPR, if there is gas in the line, the FPR is bad. If there is not any gas in the line, then the resistance still needs to be verified to make sure its operating correctly. Im not sure what the resistance is however, you will have to look it up in a service manual or call a dealership.

You say the fuel pump whirs when you crank it, but does it prime as soon as you turn your key on? It should kick on and charge the system when initially turn the key on. if it doesnt, you either have a fuel pump problem, a bank angle sensor problem, or a fuel cutoff relay problem. But also, the killswitch or sidestand switch can also cause issues.

Have you done anything else to the bike, such as remove anything, had it in a crash, or is it basically stock and the bike just doesnt start all of sudden? any all information about the bike, even if it seems unrelated, should be shared and it will help people diagnosis the issue.

Also, how many miles are on the bike?

i had this same problem at the beginning of the year on my 01 f4i.... dealership didnt know what it was and i got all these things to check out... turns out it was a broken wire that fell out of my ecu/computer and it wasn't priming the motor when i'd turn the key... fixed that and works everytime now =]
