Default CBR 900 rr charging at 17.45 volts, whats wrong?

Hello all,

My battery was flat today so I have just charged it and started the bike, put a multi meter on the battery and what the f--k 17.45 volts with the highbeam on, what is at fault?

I have replaced the stator, battery and rectifier 6 months ago.

Cheers

sounds like RR is shot again if the bike is putting out that much. 900Rr manual says thr RR should put out a max of 15.5V @ 5000rpm. If yours is 2volts higher @ idle - you're going to kill that battery if you haven't already - and are potentially risking other systems on the bike that aren't designed to work that far outside of regulation.

yep, sounds like the rectifier crapped out on ya. Check the connections just to make sure none of the pins fell out of the connector and your still getting good contact on all pins in the connector.

I also agree with not running it like it is. Most 12v items can withstand a pretty high voltage, but over 17 is really going to be pushing limit.
