Default Can I borrow your chain tool?

I am replacing my chain and noticed that my package has the clip on type master link, so I ordered a rivet master link. I don't have a chain tool and don't really want to spend $100+ on a tool I will use only a couple times....so does anyone want to let me borrow theirs? I will pay all shipping costs and will obviously pay for it if I break it. PM me!

I bought a chain from Cycle Gear and they actually let me borrow a chain tool for free. Given, they don't have to do this, but it sure was nice of them. Maybe, if you have a cycle gear near by...

Why not just use the master link with the jesus clip on it? If it breaks there was too much stress on the chain anyway and you're better off replacing just the masterlink instead of the whole chain, sprockets, and possibly other parts.

Youve got to be kidding me right,.....I dont see what would be so hard about using the jesus clip and riding to the local bike shop and asking the mechanic to swap it out with the rivet style link, only takes 5 minutes andmaybe a$20 tip...here's an idea for a do it yourself rig......Put your bike on a stand, rotate the rear wheel or position the chain so that the link is at the bottom between the front and rear sprockets, get a 4x4, cinder block or anything that you can place a bench vise on and make sure its high enough that it will clamp the chain, get a small ball bearingand tape it to the inside of the vise, position vise with bearing on the side to be riveted and just turn the handle on the vise...this should work...a good vise can b found at sears or any hardware store and should be less than a chain tool...
