Can I avoid tapping engine?
The bolt drama continues... I got the bolts from Fastenal and the bolts were unusable - the bolts were partially threaded like OEM HOWEVER the bolt shaft was 6mm
on the OEM bolt the unthreaded shaft was ~5.3mm. The fat bolt shaft will crush any threads it hits inside the stud. The spec sheets on the Fastenal site don't show the important information about the bolt's shaft and the amount of threading - and 1/2 were missing. I've called and emailed Fastenal and am awaiting a response.
Given what @GR954rr said, I called nuttybolts (760) 948-2658 and they DO have inventory that isn't on their website. Not quite partially threaded like OEM, but fully threaded - so it should work with a few extra turns of the wrench. If that's the best I can do (ie. I don't hear from Fastenal soon) I'll have them mail them to me. I'll take their salesman's word that even though they're not stamped they actually are 8.8 hardened.
