Did you find the problem? I had the same issue with a race quad of mine - I changed out the chain and the tensioner & problem went away.

 

NO, i put a new tensioner in and the clicking sound i had goes away, but the knocking is still there, actually seems like it got louder....

 

Dumb question, but when you did the tensioner, did you double check your timing? Have you checked your valve clearances?

 

No i havent checked the valve timing or the clearances... that is a total possibility and i might look into that.... ive been playing around with it and noticed that when i loosen up the tensioner the knocking gets more subtle clicking still remains.... im so confused... going to stop by this mechanic i know before work, maybe he can point me in the right direction and not charge me lol

 

so i went to that shop after work, was kind of useless.. the dude told me to drain my oil and check if there metal shaving in there, and if so to look for a new engine.... great advice... lets say theoretically one of my bearings was F@cked, would i really need to go get a new engine or could i just replace the bearings... i know journal bearings are very precise and need to be matched to the crank, so how does that work, is it the same story with rod bearings??

 

It wouldn't hurt to drain your oil & check for metal shavings, just to be on the safe side. I've replaced rod bearings in a truck before, but not in a bike - can't see it being much different really. A rod bearing is a rod bearing as far as I'm concerned. Engine rebuild is possible (although can be quite extensive), depending on what you find when you dump the oil. If there is nothing in it, you can fix it. If there are a lot of shavings or small chunks in it, you might be more cost effective to find a new one just because the extent of the damage will likely be more than "just a bearing".
Check your oil though & then check your timing & valve clearances. If the knocking is more subtle when you loosen the tensioner, you might not have things totally lined up properly.
Out of curiosity, have you had your engine totally apart? Checked the piston & cylinder walls?
You may end up wanting to spend the money and taking your bike in to be properly diagnosed & repaired too. If you're anything like me, having a bike down & not being able to ride for any length of time is maddening! lol

 

checked the oil yesterday and nothing in it... also took apart the clutch basket and stator... only weird things was that the clutch basket was scratched, seems to have caught the clutch cover... also the chain that runs the water pump, its driven by the tranny, the chain on that is super looose... yea ive had the engien apart, 3 months ago!!! and everything was fine... ugh dont wanna do it again lol... what do you guys think... will check valve clearances today....

 

The oil/water pump chain is not tensioned. Don't freak out about that.
Scratched clutch basket. What's that about? If it's caught the cover....... how on earth.....???
This is a weird one.
Did you have the head off? Checked piston rings?
