Bubbly Engine Sound on Decceleration
Hey Everyone,
My engine has started to run a bit differently, and I most noticebly can hear a sort of louder, deeper, sort of bubbly sound when I'm downshifting which starts at about 4 thousand rpms until I pull the clutch in and totally stop the bike. I had the carbs tuned about 4 weeks ago, and this problem started about 2 weeks ago.
My power is still fine, and everything else seems to be ok. I was wondering if this could be a problem, or if it is just the new sound my engine is making due to the carb adjustment?

Sounds prolly like a tuning issue ... ?
but....do you mean the sound from the exhaust is different ? does it burble and pop more now ?
If its just started out of the blue without anything being done to her .. it might
just be a small exhaust leak...
When air gets into the exhaust from a leaking header pipe gasket or a tiny muffler leak , it can make them burble quite a bit......just a thought mate .....might be worth a check...

The sound is coming from the engine, and not the exhaust itself. I am going to check the spark plugs tonight and make sure they are good. I'm thinking my header may be leaking...? But wouldn't I see some kind of smoke in my exhaust if this was the issue?

A very small leak on the other hand will only generally let air in and cause popping from the exhaust..
What Cageless suggests is a good thing to check as well ...
When a muffler gets too empty (burnt out packing ) they will tend to suck too much air back in and then they will start popping as well....
well done Cageless
I missed that ...
I am going to agree with classic here on this one however your bike could be running a little too lean when you check the plugs you are looking for a nice tan color if it is white you know what the problem is too much air. let us know what oyu find
The bushings on my front tire started going to crap out on the weekend due in part to the terribly uneven wearing on my tire I'm sure. I took my bike in to get a new tire/bushings and they are going to take a look at the engine as well. I will let you know what their conclusion is about the engine sound.
