Default What is this sound? Key on engine off

I don't think that there is anything wrong with the bike... just noticed it today.. I think it has always done it.. just wondering what it is..

If you put the key to on but dont start.. as the instrument cluster lights up I can hear a slight 'pop' almost.. maybe a relay kicking on or something.. then I hear it pop off when the key is turned off.. so key on I hear something turn on.. key off it turns off... its not the fuel pump.. it seems to be coming from the instrument cluster or front fork area.. am I going nuts?

It's not super loud, but I can hear it with the helmet off...

I'll go out and check mine, just to make sure. I think I usually hear maybe the ignition fob doin its mechanical thing while turning the key.

thats what I am thinkin... looked through the service manual quickly.. didnt find mention of a solenoid in that area. as thinking perhaps that air intake system perhaps... who knows...

at least its 'normal'.. I guess I have either had my lid on or it hasnt been as quiet when I turned the key on... weird I never noticed it before..

Turb,

Yes, the sound is normal.

Its making that sound when you turn your key b/c your *Engine Stop Switch* is in the ON position.

When your Engine Stop Switch is in the OFF position, it won't make that sound when you turn the key.

;-)
