Hi, when i brake in a silent environment, i surely hear a squeaking noise while just about to stop! can somebody please put some light on this? i have no idea what it is and how to solve it....its a sound like you get while opening up a steel panes and it squeaks! and then you apply WD-40 and the sound is gone..that sort of a sound.pls help!

well speaking from auto experiences, when you have a squeaking noise its due to the brake pads wearing down too thin and the "chirper" tabs are coming in contact with the rotor. i would visually check the brake pads and see if you need to change them. and do not put wd-40 on the rotors/pads. this will cause the brakes NOT to work.

another thing it may be is you have some dirt or other small debries trapped between the pads and the rotor. has it rained recently and have you rode or left your bike out in the rain?

does it make the squeak when your riding while not applying the brakes, is it only on hard braking, or when you break all the time. how many miles on your bike? do you do any hard braking (track days or drag strip days), are the rotors "blueing/discolored)?

 

It's normal. Once they get some road debris in there and wear in it'll happen. It usually only makes a noise when almost coming to a complete stop, right? If so, it's ok.

 

hi..i have a 2006 CBR 600F, it is only done 1200kms! one mechanic told me that i can still go 3 mil or something on the brakes. Plus, this only happens when i do hard braking, normal braking produces no sound at all! and Yes "dwhite645", it only happens when i come to a complete stop! never otherwise....i guess as you say its normal, i shouldnt be worried about it...and just less than a month ago i took it to honda showroom for complete service and checkup, they never mentioned anything about brake pads replacement.....
i feel as u say, i will not be worried about it anymore..rite?
