Default Bike will idle, dies upon acceleration. Any Suggestions?

I can start the bike and it will idle , but only with the choke on, but if I take the choke off , or give it gas with the choke on it dies. Any Suggestions would be appreciated.

What's the history of the bike? Has it been sitting? Recent mods to carbs, exhaust, etc?

More than likely it just needs a good cleaning of the carbs but hard to say without knowing more about it. Could be half a dozen things.

Mine is also a 98' F3, I bought it back in June and haven't had a problem, changed the fuel filter, put in fresh gas and used the recommended amount of Sea-foam in the tank and carbs. Still idles weakly so tomorrow I am going to take the carb apart and give it a thorough cleaning.

My 95 CBR did the same thing. It would idle fine but giving it throttle would kill it. My problem turned out to be my fuel pump. Enough gas would get through to idle but accelerating required more gas and it would die. I ended up buying a new pump, but it appears you can also just replace the contacts on your current pump.

Isn't it possible to route the gas directly into the carbs, bypassing the fuel pump?
